yum yum pigs bum!

Remember that food processor and stuff Tony bought for me? Well I’ve been putting it to good use….that up there is a slice of the VERY FIRST cheesecake I have ever made. And it was bloody yummo. In fact it was so yummo I made another one today, which smummy had a taste of. She ate the lot and politeness is something reserved for people she doesn’t like so in the absence of ‘that tasted like shit Kell!’ I’m assuming it was good!

It’s funny how a few good items in the kitchen has rejuvenated my love of cooking, or rather, baking. I love cooking for Zoe. I love making slices. I love messing with recipes and making them my own. Sometimes that is successful, sometimes it’s not! But it is fun. Like the muesli bars I made yesterday for Zoe. They are scrumptous. And healthy. And I know what is in them! She loves them. Tony likes them. And they are so simple to make. Recipe for those, and the cheesecake will be added to the recipes page before long.

I’m not sure what it is about cooking that is so appealing to so many people. Is it biological? The need to provide nourishing food for our offspring and loved ones? Is it the creation? The bringing together of ingredients to make something unique and pleasing to both the eye and palate? Or is it simply the timeout? The break from the hectic world in which we live? Who knows. I think the reason changes from person to person and day to day. I know it does for me….

Till next time, don’t be so busy planning a life that you forget to live one.

    Hey Kel,
That looks like some mighty fine cheesecake. In fact, it looks fantastic. I love to cook too - not sure if it’s biological or just an extension of our creative sides. Personally, I find it very relaxing and when I’m finished I’ve something to show for it.

I seldom cook, but love it daily when my partner cooks for me! :-) Food is a primal way of saying I care about you and will take care of you.

PRIMAL - thats it right there in one word. Like the whole mating ritual that is our life. We all want better jobs, better money, a better life, all in order to attract the best mate. Well it maybe not QUITE that simple, but it’s basically the motivation for the majority of what we do as a society…
