I’ve got mail!

pp012.jpgAbout January of this year, I was surfing some blogs on Blogexplosion when a banner caught my eye. It said simply, “Smoke and Mirrors.” It was nothing startling, but it got my attention because it was almost identical to the one I’d made for myself on some banner generator site just a few days earlier. So I clicked it. I thought, hey, at least whoever made the banner has a great sense of style Best thing I did that day let me tell you.

It took me to a blog written by a gentleman by the name of Michael. He seemed to be a bit funny, a bit serious, had tonnes of friends who sent him funny things via e-mail and could write extremely well. After reading a few of his archives over the course of several days, I blogrolled him and starting leaving comments.

I’ve never once regretted doing that. Since that time I’ve been privy, along with his ever growing reader base, to those bits of himself and his life that he cares to share with complete strangers via his blog. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading his writing, his views and experiences. He’s been a friend to me in a way you wouldn’t have thought possible considering we’ve never met. If I ever wrote anything negative on my site, his was the first e-mail in my inbox asking “Hey kiddo, you ok? You need to talk, I’m here.” And he has been. During some of my darkest moments, his words of encouragement and support helped immensely…

b2676.jpgHe recently announced on his blog that he had a cd for sale….’Do we get a preview??’ I cheekily asked so he promptly sends me one of the songs via email. I got about a minute into listening to it before heading over to order one. The song was called “For my girls” and it gave me goosebumps. I don’t know whether thats because I know just how much feeling he puts into his writing, and that shone through the song, or whether because I was sitting there wishing that someday, somewhere, someone would feel that way about me, and me them. It could have been because both musically and lyrically, it’s a fantastic song. Probably all three

Well my cd arrived today and as I’m writing this post, I’m sitting here listening to it. It’s even autographed! I’m reading through the cd notes and it just confirms what I’ve thought all along. Micheal is one helluva guy who adores his wife and family more than life itself. I’m pretty sure that this will be added to our playlist over the Christmas period, right alongside Cliff Richards and High Five!
Michael, you are truly a talented individual, and I am so glad I clicked on that banner way back when. I WILL buy you a guiness one day mate.

    Hey Kel-

Thank you for this lovely post. Glad you like the CD. I hope it plays/sounds ok for you.
They say there’s a reason why things happen and clicking on my banner that day was written in the stars to begin with.
That we both love Guinness is just icing on the proverbial cake.
Thanks again for the nice post. You’re a wonderful long distance mate.
    And yes, I’m blushing.
    Merry Christmas…

Michael, you are most welcome, lord knows it’s the least I could do considering how much you’ve helped me out at times, just by being there. I haven’t had any issues playing the cd at all, about the only thing that may happen is I’ll wear it out!
You know that I’m also a great believer in things happening for a reason, so I guess it was written already..don’t know for sure, don’t care, just glad it happened

I was over there the other day and saw that CD for sale. I wondered what it might sound like, then got busy at work before I could investigate further. I had totally forgot about it! Thanks for the reminder, I’ll go back and check it out. I love the visuals on his blog btw.

I’ve sent you an email with the song Michael sent me…enjoy!

Dang you Kel, you beat me to the punch - I was gonna do a post about this too. Maybe I still will.

I love it too. No…it goes beyond love - it’s like listening to a sweet and wonderful love affair set to music. Makes you believe that true love really is out there somewhere, doesn’t it?
